If you are familiar with ferrous metals and you are looking to scrap some with your local yard you may come across uncleaned auto cast for any vehicles you are scrapping. Uncleaned auto cast is cast iron from engines and will have some plastic or even the transmission still attached to it. The uncleaned auto cast will be a different price than clean cast from a vehicle because of the other material attached to it.
Selling Your Cast Iron To Your Yards
If you are looking to make the most money from your cast iron, we suggest removing any rubber, plastic or other materials from it and bring it into the yard. You can contact your local scrap yard through the iScrap App and ask them how they classify auto cast scrap and other auto parts for scrap. You may want to also use the feature on the iScrap App to send them a picture of the material and ask for a price quote. Remember scrap yards have the right to change the price once they see any material in person.
