About Memory

Let’s Talk About Gold & Silver Memory

Scrap your old memory from your computer today. Memory should be destroyed when it is scrapped so that others can not access your information. Scrap yards that accept memory usually have their own way of destroying the memory. Prices for memory depend on the size, weight and location so their Memory Scrap Prices may vary.

What Is Computer Memory?

Computer memory is the space in the computer where data is processed and instructions are given out to the rest of the parts. Generally there are multiple memory “cells,” where you will see a few sticks of memory so that information can be processed quicker as the size of a computer grows.

Are There Many Types Of PC Memory?

There are many ways that you can see computer memory prepared, but there are only two main types of memory, Gold and Silver. The most common type is gold, and the chips that are soldered to the memory boards are part of the reason that they are so expensive. Gold memory will have gold colored tips, and you will be able to see them with their yellow color. Silver memory is easy to tell because you are able to see the white color of the tips (also called fingers) and you will be able to get a good idea on what is what. If you have memory chips that have aluminum plates on them (kind of like heatsinks), make sure to separate them because they are not as valuable.

How Do I Know The Price Of Computer Memory?

Check with your local scrap yard for their memory pricing. Not sure where your local scrap yard is? The iScrap App can help you find a scrap metal yard near you that accepts memory.
