About Copper Yokes

What Are Copper Yokes?

Copper yokes can be found on the back of tube TV’s. They are usually in a cone shape with plastic around the outside wrapped and weaved around by copper wire. The copper wire may look like bare bright wire, but it is actually going to be a #2 copper wire price at your local scrap yard. The wire is usually coated in a shellac and has residue on it.

Are Yokes Worth Taking Apart?

If you take these items apart for scrap, be sure to keep them separate from your other scrap copper wire. Yards will usually have a different scrap price for copper yokes usually due to the plastic on them. If you remove the copper wire to scrap without the plastic, be sure to ask your yard about the price to make sure you are getting the right one.
