Weekly What’s Update: Unstable Market & Prices Heading Into Q2

Scrap price reportHey iScrappers!

Hope you are enjoying April Fools Day today! Share with us some of your funny pranks that you pull on people so we can get a good laugh!

In the last week copper has been on a bit of a roller coaster with prices going as high as 7-8 cents above where they were a week ago and today that have dipped down 3-4 cents per pound. With the market still in an unstable mode it is going to be tough to gauge what will happen next with copper and in turn brass/insulated wire as well.

Steel pricing has not had much movement in the last week. While reports are saying that April and May pricing is supposed to increase, the real world analysis has not shown that. With prices very mixed, it is going to be tough to guess where the steel pricing will go this year, we are going to have a hard time getting a good grasp on it going forward as well.

Stainless Steel has moved down a penny or two, with the overall market weakening it is going to be tough to really guess where things are going next. Stainless is directly affected by Nickel pricing, and with all precious metals down this year it looks like the slide will continue.

Gold prices have not done much in the last week with prices hovering in the high 00’s per ounce. That means that the electronic pricing on circuit boards will be in the same range that it has been.

Ok scrappers, Happy Easter and Hippity Hoppity…scrap ya later!
