Weekly What’s Update 2/25/15: Copper Stable, Steel Drops

copper stable steel dropsGood Day iScrappers!!!

With the weather starting to turn around and March being right around the corner we are being optimistic about pricing. The copper market has had a bit of an uptick lately with prices rising about $0.05-0.07 per lb. since last week…but more importantly it has been stabilizing. High prices don’t mean anything unless they are stable prices and that is what we want to see happen.

Many scrap yards across the US and Canada are having very difficult times judging where the markets are going to go and that makes it very difficult to really get a firm grasp on things going forward.

Copper Stable, Steel Drops

On the ferrous side of the market our predictions have unfortunately been correct again. The steel prices have slid another $10-20 per ton and there looks to be more drops coming on in the month of March. We have heard that the market is going to soften even more and drop another $20-30 per ton in the next few weeks.

Overall the market is tough right now, even though the stock market has seen some of its highest numbers of all time (across the world as well), it is still tough to see what is going to be happening. The commodities market is still really all over the map right now and it is going to be tough to see what is going to be happening an extended period down the road.

Hope this helps, until next week…scrap ya later!
