Hopefully you have heard by now that you can now REPORT THE PRICES that you receive at your scrap yard and share them with fellow scrappers. This is one of the best tools that you will be able to use (other then a magnet) and the quicker that you spread the word the more prices that will be uploaded and help the entire scrapping community out!
In the last week we have seen the copper market drop down about $0.06 per lb and it seems like it might go down a little more. After the large increase over the last few weeks, there was little to no reason for the market to have risen the way that it had…and now it seems to be auto-correcting itself. Hopefully this will change in June and we will be able to see a price increase with the changing of the seasons.
Steel prices have been stable over the last week with prices stable after the two smaller increases that we saw. Hopefully we will see the demand increase as well and we will be able to get a better grip on what is going on with the market as well. Right now we have not heard too many big changes in the steel market…so it is what it is.
In other news aluminum continues to get hammered with the prices dropping with not much rebound in sight. We do not see a large increase in the market anytime soon and with all areas of the country in the same boat we just have to see what happens in the coming weeks.
Have a very Happy Memorial Day next week….(and don’t forget to be on the lookout for old grills people throw out!).
