Weekly What’s Update: Aluminum Drops After Stabilization

Hey iScrappers!

ScrapWith the Spring weather really rolling in across the country it is going to be a great Spring clean up time of the year. With the weather turning back to warm weather in so many parts of the country it is time to be on the look out for people cleaning all types of old tools, appliances, and other metal objects out. Make sure that you go around in the early hours and espeically on the weekends to scrap hunt, it will be easier.

The prices have been all over the place in the last week and we see a little bit of a roller coaster ride coming up in the next few weeks as well. Steel prices have slightly crept up $5-10 per ton, but nothing to really get excited about because that equates to $0.003 cents per lb…which won’t make a huge difference, but every little bit helps.

Copper had made a nice climb since we spoke last week, but since then has seen a decline sharply this week falling almost $0.10 per lb.

We are going to look a little foolish with this next message…but aluminum has fallen after being one of the few pillars the last few months. Aluminum prices are down about 7% over the last month or so and more drops in the aluminum market look to be coming up soon.

Any other questions that you have about different materials that we have not talked about please let us know and we will update this sheet. We try to have a large mix of pricing and analysis but we LOVE to add things that you want to see.

Scrap well…scrap often.
