Weekly Scrap Price Update: Greece Affects Market, July Concerns

Weekly Scrap Price Updates

Hey iScrappers!

This is a special birthday edition for America, so Happy 239th Birthday America! With the summer here it is really tough to gauge where prices are going to go, so make sure to check www.iScrapApp.com to post prices that you have received and to check prices that others have posted for your local yards.

In the last week we have seen a lot of movement on all types of fronts. In the copper market things have bounced all over and a lot of that is because of the chaos that is going on in Greece and with the bailouts/defaults on loans throughout the country. While many people have asked us why one country would affect so many markets it is because when a country is in trouble…most of the world notices and investors get very shaky. Copper has leveled in the last week…but there is much uncertainty ahead.

Steel prices are dropping at least $10-15 per ton going into July. With a low demand and many people not sure what is going to be happening the next few months do not be surprised to see steel prices drop back to the levels that we saw the beginning of 2015…and there is not too much of a rebound lined up at all.

Other markets like aluminum and Nickel (stainless steel will be affected by the nickel market) have really gotten hammered and that is going to be a trend among all metals right now.

We hope that you have a VERY safe and Happy 4th of July, please let us know what else we can help you with metal wise and make sure you continue to post prices on the iScrap App today.
