Weekly Scrap Price Update: Copper, Steel See Dramatic Drop

unnamed (14)Hey iScrappers!

Hope you have been posting the prices that you have been receiving for your scrap on our website…make sure you not only post your prices but check out the other prices that fellow scrappers have been posting.

Within the last week we celebrated Canada Day, the 4th of July….but we are not going to be celebrating metal prices. With China’s stock market dropping about 20-25% since the middle of June and coupled with the financial problems in Greece we have had a rough week.

Copper prices have fallen about 20 cents per lb. and until there is a better grasp on the market prices do not look great on the copper side of things. Brass is also affected as most of the composition of brass is copper/zinc and both of those metals are down.

Gold fell slightly to the mid 00 per ounce price. With that financial unrest going on it is going to be tough to gauge what happens in the coming weeks.

Steel prices have also taken a hit with prices down $10-20 per ton over the last week. These prices look to be weakening and might be slipping back to early 2015 pricing…stay tuned.

With that said unfortunately we do not have too much good market news, but keep posting/viewing posted prices on www.iScrapApp.com and you will be able to know not only what is going on with the market but what the prices are doing.
