Weekly Scrap Price Update: Copper Balancing, Gold 5-Year Lows

unnamed (18)Hey Scrappers! We hope that you have had a great July and rest of your summer. Let us know what you have been scrapping lately and make sure you post your prices to www.iScrapApp.com so we can get more prices out there for you to check out.

Steel Prices At 6-Year Lows

Steel prices have continued to drop with the market going down another $10-20 per ton over the last week. With steel prices at 6-7 year lows it is a very tough market right now with little upside. We hear that the prices will be rebounding later this year, but with steel as a bulky and heavy item we do not recommend saving or holding onto it at all. It looks to be that steel prices are going to go down further by the end of July with prices looking to drop another $10-20 on top of the drops that have happened in the last few days.

Copper Prices In Circus Balancing Act

Copper prices have balanced over the last week only moving a few pennies. You should not see a huge swing one way or another, but know that with these uncertain times that the prices could bounce all over the place at the drop of a hat…so keep checking and posting your prices through the iScrapApp.com.

Some items that may be touched by the changing prices of copper are all insulated wires & cables, copper tubing, roofing copper, brass, and bronze.

Gold Prices Are Tanking

Gold prices are down at 5 year lows with the market taking a large drop earlier this week. Why are gold prices falling? Well, it seems to be one of the few metals/commodities that went untouched for a while and now is having a bit of a downturn and is following the other metals. This can have a direct effect on your e-scrap prices, so be sure to keep an eye on prices for things like CPU chips, motherboards, and other gold plated items.
