Today we are going to talk about great scrap items that can be used for more then just scrap…but as decorative designs and even as antique items. Old metal items like cast iron stoves, radiators, bathtubs, and even chairs are some of the most sought after items for reuse for antiques and for other decorative designs.
In late 2015 when this is being written many of the steel prices are at multi-year lows and many people do not want to pick up ferrous metals because of their low values. But finding the diamond in the rough is something that is very easy to do when you have a lot of old antique-style items that are around for scrapping. There are multiple people/companies that will buy these old items from you for multiple times over scrap value if the steel items are in good shape.
- Antique Shops – This will be your best bet and you might want to establish a relationship with the owner or manager so you can get a good idea about what they are looking for and what you can provide.
- Craigslist/Online Sales Site – No advertising method is better then the internet and this is not a change. Having multiple pictures of your items online will only help intrigue potential buyers to ask more questions and really gain interest.
