It has been a crazy week since we spoke last, so let’s get things up and running. The copper market has been in the same range for the last few months and we have been seeing the prices of copper jump all over the place. Even though the price have changed, (up slightly since last week), there has not been much of a change.
Below are some recent prices that we have received through iScrappers online over the last week (2/17/16-2/23/16). Remember to report your scrap prices in the US and Canada to stay updated on price changes in your area.
Recent Reported Scrap Prices:
Willmar, MN: $1.67 for #1 Tubing
Rochester, NY: $0.39 for Sheet Aluminum
Pensacola, FL: $0.32 per lb for Aluminum Cans
Wichita, KS: $0.25 per lb for Copper Electric Motors
San Marcos, CA: $1.50 per lb for Bare Bright Copper
Addison, IL: $0.035 per lb for Cast Iron
Tucson, AZ: $0.27 per lb for Aluminum Siding
Current Scrap Prices: Steel & Gold
We have read many steel articles and we have seen a trend of very little movement going forward for steel pricing. No one seems to be optimistic at all for steel pricing in 2016 and because of that we have told anyone that asks to start selling what they may have been piling up.
The only price that seems to be moving right now is the price of gold…whether or not it goes up or down is another story. It seems that as the oil prices fall that gold rises and then when oil rises that gold falls. It is a funny teeter totter cycle right now and we have to watch out for the ongoing changes that are happening.
Outlook For The Rest Of The Quarter
Going forward for the rest of the first quarter of 2016 we don’t see too much more movement in any markets. While small rises have happened many believe that the prices that we are seeing are going to be indicative for the market as a whole this entire year.
