Happy (belated) Valentine’s Day!!! We hope that you are in love with the prices of copper rising the last few days like we are! With negative temperatures across the Northeast last weekend we hope that your cars/trucks and homes got through it with little to no problems.
Stable Prices…For Now?
Copper has stabilized and even gone up a few cents since last week and we are happy to see that happening. The price going up is always great…but the prices stabilizing is an excellent thing and great overall news for the market. Your local yards may be holding back on the prices a little bit because of where the market has been so unstable overall, so make sure you go online to see what other scrappers in the area are getting paid.
Steel Not Moving
Steel pricing has not moved at all, with the prices right in the same range that it has been at for the last month we have not heard about anything really shifting soon. The market is not moving anywhere right now, so we have to remain in the “wait and see” mode.
Gold prices have taken a dip in the last week after the stock market had a strong recovery but still remain over 00 per ounce which is a great price and news for electronic scrap.
In other news the prices of oil have been jumping all over the map and because of that you have seen the stock market and other commodities jumping around as well.
All in all the market has been all over the place, but with so many very part time scrappers jumping off of the scrapping ship you should be able to find a lot of material out there in the coming weeks especially once the spring cleanups start.
Make sure you continue to post the prices that you are receiving through the iScrapApp’s reporting tool and until next week, scrap ya later!
