11/11/15 Scrap Price Update: Steel Went Up?

Veteran's DayHellllllllooooo iScrappers!!!

First and foremost we want to take a moment to thank all of the Veteran’s that have served the USA in the past years and to those that continue to serve today. We thank you for all of your courage and time to help protect our freedoms and make the USA what it is.

With half of November already behind us, it is crazy to believe that we are almost at the end of 2015. One of the things that has had us most excited this year was the opportunity to have people post prices for metals that they get to sell, so don’t forget to check it out and post some prices yourself!

Copper See A Small Drop This Month

We have seen a small drop in copper over the last week with prices dipping about 3-5 cents per pound towards the end of last week and maybe another penny down up to this point of the week. Why prices are falling you may want to know? Well…with the market continuing to be all over the place for commodities, and with the future oil prices predicted to be low for a long time, this is what will keep many scrap prices down.

Steel Sees The Positive….Really?

Steel prices have had a small uptick with the prices going up about $5 per ton over the last week. Not a huge increase we know…but it is the first positive sign in a while so we are happy to report on that. While we don’t expect the prices to recover anytime soon, at least it’s a small sign of some good things, even if it’s temporary.

What Are The Others Doing?

Other metals like stainless steel have not done too much over the last few weeks with Nickel prices at 2015 lows that is not a huge surprise.

Large Drop in Gold Prices This Week

One thing that is a large drop over the last week has been the prices of gold. Gold prices have fallen about 0 per ounce over the last week which equates to about a 8-9% drop. That is a significant drop and that will directly affect the pricing of electronic scrap and other items that you may be scrapping that contain gold in them.

Hope this helps give you a better idea on the market, next week we are going to start to look into 2016 predictions and where we think that the market will be headed.
