THHN Wire, otherwise known as 10-14 gauge wire or spaghetti wire has solid copper inside. If you choose to strip these wires you will make more money but scrapping them how they are is good too so check for the price of THHN wire. Prices for THHN Wire can be easily found on the iScrap App. To get the best prices for THHN wire make sure that it is separated from other metals.
If you have a large quantity of THHN Wire you can strip the wire for the copper inside, but keep in mind a large amount of your weight is going to be taken away once you have removed their insulation. Depending on your cost of time and money, you can either make more or give yourself less time to collect scrap and other work. Also contact multiple yards near you for the best price. Along with THHN prices, scrap metal yards near you are easier to find with the app.
THHN is a name given that means Thermoplastic, High Heat, Nylon coated…and while that may not matter to you when scrapping, it is still a cool thing to be able to know. It has to do with what temperatures that the wire is resistant to, because don’t forget that all wire that has electricity running through it has a level of heat.
Spaghetti wire is a common phrase that is also used to describe THHN wire (as well as 10-14 gauge wire). Why is it called spaghetti? Well because of how it looks! It is stringy and reminds people of spaghetti and that is where the name came from. Don’t forget that you can’t eat the spaghetti wire….but after you sell it to your local yard you will be able to take that cash and grab some good Italian food!
If you are selling THHN, then you should be looking for and sorting these other items as well:
If you have a large amount of THHN Wire, scheduling a pick up has never been easier with the iScrap App. All you need to do is fill out a container request form. Scrap your THHN Wire for extra cash in your wallet. See more Scrapping Videos here.
